The problem stemmed from both surface runoff and subsurface water flowing downhill from the back and side yards of adjacent properties. Without proper drainage to intercept this influx, the water had no alternative but to flow beneath the house.

Creating a Reliable Drainage System

CS Plumbing designed and executed a gravity-fed French drain system to capture and redirect water before it could reach the home’s foundation.

The project included several essential components:

A French drain system tailored to collect surface and subsurface water from neighbouring properties, directing it through gravity to a concrete pit.
A 100mm PVC pipe running from the pit to the curb, with strategically drilled holes in the curb to ensure optimal discharge.
Three new, larger-diameter Colorbond metal downpipes that replaced the original smaller versions, connected to new 100mm PVC piping leading to the curb.
A robust retaining wall system constructed along the boundary using concrete sleepers and galvanised steel posts, with auger holes drilled with an excavator to create a solid barrier that holds back the adjacent yard.
Efficient on-site soil removal conducted using a dumper for streamlined project management.
